We are talking about a bittersweet month for some, the month of returning to the routine, of establishing (new) habits, of planning how the year will continue. Ends, but also beginnings, especially beginnings.
What and how should we consider the beginnings?
It is known by everyone that beginnings can be uphill. Fear of the unknown, leaving the comfort zone, breaking with what is established in our schemes or lack of habit can lead us to fail in our approach and purposes.
We must bear in mind that, if we want a change, it implies doing something and making an effort to achieve it.
Today we will leave you some tips and recommendations to face in a bearable, healthy and charitable way with ourselves the beginnings and changes that come to our lives:
- Validating our feelings: accepting ourselves and being understanding with ourselves is essential to be able to understand ourselves, know what we want and go in search of it. It’s okay to feel frustrated, lost, confused and not knowing what we want at all times, let’s respect the times that each one needs.
- Be aware and accept the decisions of others: not everything depends on us, and we have to be aware of it. There are endless actors that intervene in our day to day life and that consciously and unconsciously impact and affect our ideas, thoughts and even the way we act. Therefore, knowing to what extent we want others to intervene in us is a pending task.
- Adaptation and acceptance: the changes, to a lesser or greater extent, suppose a wobble to our stability. We are not just talking about changes with a negative connotation, each and every one of them entails a reorganization of the structures that we have learned. Thus, the power of adaptation and acceptance in the face of exchanges will benefit us by making us aware that there is only the present moment and we can work on it to improve or shape the future “in our opinion”.
- Avoid complaining and/or resignation: this point is closely linked to the previous one. The premise that we emphasize again is that we advance when we are ready to change everything with which we are not satisfied.
- Focus on the future: as we have said before, the fear of the unknown or leaving the comfort zone can create a cluster of negative feelings and sensations, which is totally normal. Feeling sadness, pain, restlessness and uncertainty is understandable when we realize that a stage of our life has ended. Looking ahead and focusing on everything that is yet to come will encourage us to approach the situation with greater serenity and awareness.
We must never forget that each of us have the ability to relearn, recover, heal and create, although we often forget about it.
