Solidarity through volunteering

Since December 5, 2011, Volunteer Day began to be celebrated. This year 2022, as every year, we celebrate it and the United Nations launches its campaign: “Solidarity through volunteering”.

What is volunteering? We have heard of him countless times; word that surrounds us in such values as trust, humility, sharing, accompaniment, respect, equality…; word that makes us relate to others horizontally under the umbrella of mutual respect, equal to equal without the superiority that charity leaves us and leads us to share with others what is good for ourselves.

According to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) the word volunteering is defined as: “Group of people who volunteer to do something”.

This definition leads us to unite, interact in a dynamic way with people and their environments that are in a state of threat; It transports us to develop collective opportunities to battle mutual aid, self-help as a strategy of self-organized actions that satisfy needs in the absence of such services.

From Recicla-Alicante we are aware that volunteers experience the needs of the people they help on the front line, they become specialists in detecting the difficulties of the most vulnerable people. For this reason, they are a special piece in the NGOs, because with their detected knowledge, they help us design new programs for the common good, achieving more solid and sustainable solutions.

From here, we encourage you to participate in what helps you to be happy. We are many organizations that await you with open arms to develop your skills and work together for the well-being of people, recognizing your great role that you contribute to society.

HAPPY DAY TO EVERYONE.
